Spinosad is an insecticide based on the chemical compound found in the bacterial species Saccharopolyspora spinosa. It is used as a pesticide on crops and, as a natural product, is approved for use in organic agriculture by numerous countries. It treats fleas in dogs and cats, and is used for head lice in humans.
